Background:
Indonesia has committed over USD 122 billion under the UN-led Energy Compact to achieve SDG 7 and Net Zero emissions. However, the ongoing development of its new capital city, Nusantara, may create environmental and social challenges—including deforestation, increased coal reliance, and indigenous displacement—that threaten these commitments.
Aims and Objectives:
- Build a strategic international research and education network focused on sustainable and just energy transitions in Indonesia.
- Promote socially equitable and environmentally sustainable development in Nusantara as part of Indonesia’s Net Zero transition.
