Advancing Disaster Resilience: 2nd Annual Conference on Multi-Hazard and Disaster Mitigation

Participants of the 2nd Annual Conference on Multi-Hazard and Disaster Mitigation 2025

On 10-11 September 2025, the Resilience Development Initiative (RDI), in collaboration with the Research Center for Disaster Mitigation (Pusat Penelitian Mitigasi Bencana/PPMB) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), hosted the 2nd Annual Conference on Multi-Hazard and Disaster Mitigation 2025. The two-day conference brought together experts, researchers, and practitioners to exchange insights and recent advancements in disaster science, as well as structural and non-structural mitigation approaches.

The conference commenced with a formal opening ceremony and welcome remarks delivered by Prof. Andri Dian Nugraha, Head of the Research Center for Disaster Mitigation at ITB. This was followed by a series of sessions highlighting key developments in disaster science, including topics such as coastal resilience, seismic and catastrophe modeling, carbon storage analysis, volcanic hazard assessment, tsunami propagation, and post-earthquake landslide vulnerability.

Over the course of two days, participants engaged in thematic discussions on both structural and non-structural mitigation. The sessions showcased diverse studies and practices, ranging from infrastructure innovation, oceanography-based design optimization, and climate-resilient coastal planning to advanced hazard detection technologies. Other key themes included nature-based flood solutions, urban road resilience, disaster-informed housing decisions, tourism resilience, blue-green infrastructure, multidimensional flood risk analysis, and the integration of gender perspectives in disaster mitigation.

The conference concluded with a final plenary discussion and an official closing ceremony, marking the end of a comprehensive and collaborative forum that strengthened interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge-sharing in the field of multi-hazard and disaster mitigation.
