Urban river pollution is a critical environmental issue in Southeast Asia, particularly in Jakarta, where riverside communities often struggle with waste mismanagement. While the Department of Environment (DLH) and the Waste on Waterbodies Handling Unit (UPSBA) oversee river waste management, challenges persist due to gaps in understanding community waste behaviors and inefficiencies in waste storage sites (emplasemen).
This study aims to bridge knowledge gaps by examining the behavioral, infrastructural, and governance-related factors contributing to river waste generation in Jakarta.
Objectives:
By providing evidence-based insights, this study will support more effective waste management strategies and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment in Jakarta.
