Background:
The ASEAN Safe Schools Initiative (ASSI) was established in 2013 to address the impact of disasters on education in the region. Its main goal is to ensure children are more resilient to disasters and have a safe learning environment. ASSI aims to strengthen regional collaboration, implement policies and tools, and increase advocacy and learning initiatives on school safety. However, issues on sustainability, scaling up, and overlapping of initiatives are still common. A regionally agreed mechanism for reporting school safety initiatives is essential to effectively address these concerns.
Aims and Objectives:
To develop a reporting mechanism for ASSI.
Scope:
Conceptualization of a regional mechanism or tool for reporting school safety efforts and initiatives of different stakeholders in the ASEAN region, as well as the development of a guideline for employing the reporting mechanism.
Methodology:
– Data collection: desk review, in-depth interviews, FGD
– Data analysis: content analysis, stakeholder analysis, social network analysis, gap analysis.
