Background:
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is responsible for protecting and managing the environment in accordance with Law No. 32/2009 on Environmental Protection and Management. Based on Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021, this authority includes water quality monitoring in marine waters and the Jakarta Bay Estuary, as well as water pollution prevention planning and water quality maintenance by the Environmental Agency. In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 19 of 2008, the Provincial Government organizes water quality status information services as part of the Minimum Service Standards in the environmental sector. Monitoring of microplastics and paracetamol is the first step in water quality management and pollution control, which forms the basis for subsequent programs/activities. In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 20/2008, information on water quality is also one of the basic services in the provincial environment sector. In response, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Environmental Agency, is monitoring the environmental quality of marine waters and estuaries at least twice a year by 2024, focusing on emergent pollutants, as an effort in environmental management.
Aims and Objectives:
- Identify the concentration of microplastics and paracetamol pollutants in Jakarta water bodies.
- Analyze the impact of emerging pollutants, namely microplastics and paracetamol, on environmental quality in Jakarta water bodies.
- Determine policy and technical recommendations in efforts to control emerging pollutants.
Scope:
- Conducting microplastic and paracetamol water sampling at 63 sampling points, which will be carried out in 2 (two) seasonal periods.
- Determining 63 sampling location points by referring to the 2023 emerging pollutant report and spatial analysis, especially to identify emerging pollutant concentrations in the Jakarta estuary area.
- Conducting microplastic and paracetamol analysis, as well as approved supporting parameters, at an environmental laboratory.
- Analyzing the impact of emerging pollutants and providing policy and technical recommendations in efforts to control emerging pollutants.
- Organizing focus group discussions to communicate the results of emerging pollutant surveys.
- Prepare a report on the results of activities
