Community Engagement through Co-Design in Social Innovation Platform Project

In November 2021, the Social Innovation Platform Project (SIP) organized a Co-Design event that encompassed both fieldwork activities and a virtual Focus Group Discussion (FGD) workshop. Between November 13th and 15th, 2021, the SIP Project Team from RDI conducted discussions with local residents and key stakeholders during their visit to Sukabumi. They also visited the Ciletuh Geopark and Pelabuhan Ratu Information Center.

On November 24th and 25th, 2021, a SIP workshop was held in collaboration with UNDP Indonesia. This workshop was structured into three sessions, each focusing on distinct themes: Tourism, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and the Food System. The event was attended by representatives from Regional Agencies (OPD) and Regional Government Institutions in West Java Province and Sukabumi Regency. Its primary objective was to share and deliberate on the findings related to challenges and opportunities in developing Sustainable Tourism through the creation of a portfolio of solutions.

The first and second sessions centered on Tourism and MSMEs, respectively, while the third session delved into the food system. Additionally, a Co-Design activity was implemented during this event, offering a collaborative platform for stakeholders at the regional, provincial, and local levels. This collaboration focused on the initial design process, with the aim of generating a portfolio of solutions that effectively integrate the three priority sectors, as outlined through the Social Innovation Platform-Business Model Canvas (SBMC). Furthermore, the project holds the potential to serve as a best practice example for future initiatives.
